The 7-Day Shira Route Trek is one of the most scenic and rewarding routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Beginning on the western side of the mountain at the historic Shira Gate, this route crosses the spectacular Shira Plateau before joining the Machame Route. It offers breathtaking views, diverse landscapes, and excellent opportunities for acclimatization.
Unlike the Lemosho Route, the Shira Route starts at a higher elevation, making it better suited for trekkers who already have some high-altitude trekking experience. Throughout the journey, you’ll pass through moorland, alpine desert, volcanic formations, and glacier zones before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
The 7-day itinerary provides a balanced pace, allowing trekkers to acclimatize properly while enjoying one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic climbing experiences.
